Taking inspiration from our greatest racing heritage, TIME set out to design an affordable, lightweight racing bike. With the Alpe dāHuez 21 Disc Aktiv, we have developed a bike that can keep up with the lightest climbing bikes in the world while offering a level of comfort and stability that will make even the longest rides enjoyable. By using the Alpe dāHuez 01 as the blueprint, we have given the Alpe dāHuez 21 Disc Aktiv the same race geometry intended to encourage you to time your attacks for the win.
The differences between the two bikes lay in the types of materials used in our woven tubing. Thanks to our RTM technology, we have been able to increase the level of comfort by emphasizing the high resistance carbon and Basalt, while using less of the stiffer high modulus carbon found primarily in the Alpe dāHuez 01. This specific combination marginally increases the weight of the frame but greatly enhances the vertical compliance without sacrificing torsional stiffness , and consequently the overall comfort.
This TIME Alpe dāHuez 21 Disc Aktiv comes with the innovative TIME Aktiv fork, which offers crisp handling, with the added benefit of the vibration absorption offered by the special braiding technique. We take carefully chosen Vectran fibers and weave them with the carbon fibers to create a structure capable of absorbing road chatter without adding too much extra weight. And if you think that the 21 in the name represents the model year, think again. It more romantically alludes to the 21 corners of the famous climb for which it is named.
